  1. Thanks y’all. 🙂

So to answer questions posed by u/Livid_Welcome7322, u/InYouImLost, and u/eatcheeseplease, all of the weight loss simply came from finally being diagnosed with insulin resistance and having a doctor who actually knew what to do about it. I have PCOS and had previously been told to basically move more, eat less (PCP even suggested I visit GNC for weight loss supplements). My endocrinologist placed me on semaglutide (Wegovy, titrating doses) and metformin (500mg). 2021 – I lost 45.3 pounds with just the medication. 2022 – I’ve lost an additional 31.3 pounds with the medication and exercise (weightlifting, running).

I feel like I look better now than I did at a lesser weight in high school and a lot of it has to do with the fact I appreciate the struggle it has been to lose all of this weight. I hated my looks and thought I was overweight when I was 18 years old. I did high school in the Abercrombie era, and I was considered fat (at 135 and a size 7/8) by their standards and constantly compared myself to all the California petite blondes in my area. So when I started losing this weight, I decided that I was going to embrace the stretch marks and wrinkly loose skin and take care of my body and looks. Started a whole new skin care regimen, drank more water, made a commitment to get back into fitness (which has been GREAT since I’m no longer carrying so much weight on my joints). I’ve gained 10% in muscle mass since August, have lost 12% body fat since last year, and an overall 34% of my total body weight.

Clothes shopping is wild for me and I find myself still reaching for the bigger sizes. The only thing I adjusted in wardrobe last year was jeans and athletic wear (mainly leggings and shorts). It’s only been in the last month where I have finally stopped resisting and have gone shopping, switching from 1X/XL to M, and size 14/16 to 8. It really didn’t hit me until this past Monday when I had to begin, in earnest, replacing my work wardrobe since I’m moving into a new position that puts me back in proper business clothing. My body dysmorphia is strong and even though I know I’m smaller in numbers, the visual is something I struggle with. The most recent picture is hard for me, because while I love it and I logically know that’s me, it doesn’t look like the me I’m used to seeing. So it’s been a trip, to say the least. It doesn’t help when you have family (aka mothers) chirping about how much better you look now and that you’re “pretty” as a thinner person than you were as a bigger one. 🙃

Anyway. That was probably more info than I should’ve given, haha. All this to say, thanks everyone, it’s been hard work, and I’m almost at my goal! 🙂
